The 2007 Wikipedia Selection is a free, hand-checked, non-commercial selection from Wikipedia, useful for the English speaking world.
The selection is available online, the size of a fifteen volume encyclopedia (24,000 images and 14 million words), and includes essentially all topics in Wikipedia rated "Good" or better by Wikipedia editors at date of production.
The content is browsable online at http://schools-wikipedia.org/ , and are available for download as XO bundles to browse offline.
More than a thousand other articles considered valuable and relevant to this project have been checked and tidied up by SOS Children volunteers. Topics were chosen for quality, interest to children, and relevance to the UK National Curriculum.
The content can be navigated using a pictorial subject index, or a title word index of all topics. The subject index is to help you find relevant articles, not define them, so it deliberately includes topics which people may search for under the subject.
This selection is a part of the larger collection of 2 million articles at Wikipedia, which we commend especially for older children.
